The Hummingbirds have flown from their nest, Summertime is around the corner, and we have been planting like crazy. Our organic garden is beginning to look real nice. We began with seeds to create our first batch of starter pots. Then some girl friends came over one day and we spent some girl-time while seeding the next batch of starter pots. It's a lot of work! And, we had a lot of fun! As we begin to put them in the ground, we have beans and snow peas, summer and winter squash, skinny cucumbers, beets, turnips, onions, leeks, collard greens, mustard greens, chard, kale, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, basil and green pepper. And, it's time for the Budweiser for the pesky snails and slugs. Tuna cans work great. Anything that will hold a bit of beer in the bottom and buried 1/2” above ground. Oh those little critters can't resist getting drunk and drown. From our winter garden, we are still harvesting chard, onions and leeks. Our loquat tree is barring a lot of fruit right now. What a beautiful time of the year! |
